Timber Framed Houses are the norm for buildings in North America and Scandinavia and increasingly in other countries. For example, in Scotland in excess of 60% of new homes are now timber framed.
Timber framed homes look no different from other houses once complete and they can be equally as flexible in design. Timber framing is the most environmentally friendly way to build, as it uses a natural and renewable resource. It also gives a high level of thermal insulation, warming up quickly in winter, whilst staying cool in summer. A timbered framed house is more energy efficient than building regulations require.
